Welcome New Tax Lawyer!
On behalf of The Florida Bar Tax Section, Lauren and I, as Co-Chairs of the New Tax Lawyers Committee, welcome you to our committee! We invite and encourage you to join the Tax Section and the New Tax Lawyers Committee this year. We have had many career-building experiences through the New Tax Lawyers Committee and with the Tax Section as a whole, and we believe your involvement will provide you with similar rewarding experiences and opportunities.
Our primary goals for the New Tax Lawyers Committee are to provide learning and business development opportunities to new tax lawyers and connect with the diverse tax lawyers across the state to develop the next generation of leaders of the Tax Section.
The New Tax Lawyers Committee also provides new tax lawyers the opportunity to work on exciting Tax Section projects, including drafting amicus curiae briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court, commenting on proposed regulations, and submitting comments to notices issued by the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, all members of the New Tax Lawyers Committee can sign up for tax CLEs to further their legal knowledge.
Locally, the New Tax Lawyers Committee also hosts formal presentations on technical tax issues and business development to more casual social gatherings to provide networking opportunities for our members. Your participation in these events will help you cultivate your technical skills and expand your professional network.
Every year, The Florida Bar Tax Section has three meetings. During each of those meetings, the New Tax Lawyers Committee hosts meetings and events for its members. The first meeting is our Organizational Meeting which is held every year on July 4th weekend at the Omni Amelia Island Resort. This year, our Fall Meeting and Tax Attorney of the Year Dinner will be held at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida, and includes a Halloween Horror Nights RIP Tour. Our Annual Meeting will be held in Atlantis, Bahamas, and includes a CLE program
At each of these meetings, we plan events to introduce our members to the tax section, such as happy hours and family fun for those attending meetings with their spouses and children. If you’re planning to attend any tax section meeting, please contact either of us to let us know you are coming! We’d love to meet you and introduce you to the other Tax Section members.
Welcome to the New Tax Lawyers Committee!
