Navigating the Unpleasant Florida Tax Audit originally was presented on Wednesday, March 22, by David J. Brennan, Jr. of Moffa, Sutton, & Donnini, P.A., as part of the Tax Section’s free (for members) Zoom CLE series.

Course number 7157 is approved for 1 General CLE credit and 1 Tax Law certification credit. Tax Section members no charge; non-section members $75, which includes section membership.

The Florida Department of Revenue is becoming more aggressive than ever. In light of this, risks for practitioners taking on client representation before the Florida Department of Revenue is higher than ever. Not knowing what you do not know can and will get you sued.

This course will provide the attendee an overview of the audit process with what to expect at each twist and turn. Once discussion of the audit process is completed, further informal and formal protest rights are discussed and examined to provide the practitioner a wholistic overview of representation from cradle to grave. Throughout the course, common pitfalls will be examined and discussed.

The session is a must for anyone with clients who may conduct any type of transactions with sales or use tax implications.

David J. Brennan, Jr. is a partner of the Law Offices of Moffa, Sutton, & Donnini, P.A. He joined the firm in 2016 as an Associate Attorney. Mr. Brennan came to the firm directly from Technical Assistance and Dispute Resolution (TADR) of the Florida Department of Revenue where he was a tax conferee for several years.
